Terms of Service
Last updated: 18 August 2026 (revision 3)
In short: you own what you publish and you are responsible for it being true and yours to share. We review submissions against our rules before publishing, but we do not verify credentials. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian accepts these terms with you and shares that responsibility. Businesses may list services in our Vendor Directory; a vendor receives enquiries but never initiates contact.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Ethos Agora LLC, trading as Arangetram Registry (“Company”, “we”, “our”, “us”), which owns and operates arangetramregistry.com and its associated tools, profile hosting, announcement listings, the Vendor Directory and messaging features (together, the “Services”).
By accessing or using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to all of them, do not use the Services.
They should be read together with our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines and Disclaimer, each of which forms part of this agreement.
2. Eligibility and accounts
Minimum age. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We do not permit anyone under 13 to register, and registration is stopped where the year of birth given indicates an age below 13.
How we check, and what we keep. We ask for your year of birth once, at signup. It is used to determine your eligibility and then discarded — we do not store your year or date of birth. We keep only whether you are over 13, whether you are over 18, and whether a parent or guardian has confirmed.
You must answer honestly. Because we do not retain the underlying date, we rely on what you tell us. Giving a false age to obtain an account or to remove protections that apply to minors is a breach of these Terms, and we may suspend or remove an account where we believe it has happened.
Under 13. If an artist is under 13, a parent or legal guardian may hold an account in their own name. The account and everything published through it remains the adult’s responsibility.
Account types. The Services support artist accounts, for those who have completed or are preparing for an arangetram; guru accounts, for those who teach Indian classical arts; and vendor accounts, for businesses that list services in the Vendor Directory. One person or business holds one account of each applicable type.
Accuracy and security. You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information, to keep it up to date, and to keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity carried out under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access.
2A. Vendors
This section applies to businesses that hold a vendor account and list in the Vendor Directory.
- Who may register. A vendor account is for a bona fide business or the adult responsible for it. The Vendor Directory is not intended for use by children, and vendors are not asked for age information.
- What a listing may contain. A vendor provides a business name, optional contact person, tagline, description, one or more service categories, city-level location, service area, year established, a website or social link, a business phone number, a logo, and up to five portfolio photographs. A vendor must not provide a street address, and we do not collect one.
- Accuracy. A vendor must ensure its listing is truthful and not misleading, describes services it genuinely offers, and does not impersonate another business.
- Portfolio photographs. Portfolio images must show the vendor’s work — for example costumes, jewellery, décor, stage or venues — and must not show any identifiable person. On each upload the vendor confirms that the image shows no identifiable person and that the vendor holds the rights to it. We review every portfolio image before it is published and may decline or remove any image at our discretion.
- Enquiries only. A vendor receives enquiries through the Services but cannot initiate contact with any user through the platform. Enquiries to a vendor are moderated by our team before being forwarded, as described in section 7.
- Contact person visibility. If a vendor names a contact person, that name is shown only to signed-in gurus and is not displayed to the general public. A vendor’s phone number is never shown publicly.
- Suspension. We may decline, unpublish, suspend or remove a listing or account that breaches these Terms or our Community Guidelines, or that we consider misleading, unlawful or harmful.
3. Artists under 18
This section applies where the artist is aged 13 to 17.
- A parent or legal guardian must be named at registration and must confirm by email before a profile can be submitted for review.
- Because we do not retain a date of birth, the additional protections do not lift by themselves. Once a year the artist’s dashboard asks whether they have turned 18; the protections remain until they confirm. Either the artist or their parent or guardian may confirm.
- By confirming, that parent or guardian accepts these Terms on the artist’s behalf and agrees to them personally.
- The parent or guardian may at any time ask us to review, amend or remove the profile, and we will act on that request.
- Where these Terms place responsibility or liability on a user who is under 18, that responsibility rests with the parent or guardian.
- The parent or guardian receives a copy of every message we forward to the artist.
We apply additional protections to a minor’s public profile, described in the Privacy Policy. Those protections are ours to set and adjust. They do not create an obligation on us to guarantee anyone’s safety, and they are not a substitute for a parent’s own judgement.
4. The Services
Currently provided free of charge: artist profiles with training, lineage and media; guru profiles with school and teaching details; announcements of upcoming arangetrams; a Vendor Directory of businesses serving classical-arts families; a public registry that can be browsed and filtered; and a moderated messaging system.
Future paid features. We may introduce optional paid tiers — enhanced presentation, additional tools, or promotional placement, including for vendor listings. If we do, pricing and billing terms will be presented clearly before any charge is incurred. Existing free profiles and listings will not become paid without notice and your agreement.
Changes. We may add, alter, suspend or withdraw features. Where a change materially reduces what you already rely on, we will give reasonable notice.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload — text, photographs, video links, documents and profile or listing information (“Your Content”).
Licence. By publishing Your Content you grant the Company a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, display and distribute it for the purpose of operating the Services and presenting the registry and Vendor Directory. This licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies already made for backup and anything we are required to retain by law.
You confirm that:
- the information you provide is true and not misleading;
- you own or are licensed to use every photograph, video and document you upload;
- every identifiable person in your content has agreed to appear, and where that person is a minor, their parent or guardian has agreed;
- where you upload portfolio images to a vendor listing, those images show no identifiable person and you hold the rights to them;
- you have permission to name your guru and to describe your lineage as you have;
- where you list orchestra or accompanying artists, each named person has agreed to be named;
- your content infringes nobody’s rights and breaks no law.
You are solely responsible for what you submit. Where the artist is under 18, the parent or guardian is responsible with them. Where the account is a vendor account, the business is responsible for its listing and images.
6. Review and publication
Profiles, guru listings, vendor listings, portfolio images and announcements are reviewed by a member of our team before publication. Our review checks compliance with these Terms and our Community Guidelines. A material change to an already-published listing — including adding a portfolio image — returns it for review before the change becomes public.
Review is not verification. We do not independently confirm that an arangetram took place, authenticate certificates with the issuing school, verify that a lineage is as described, or confirm a vendor’s credentials, quality or suitability. Our Disclaimer sets out precisely what we do and do not check.
We may publish, decline, request changes to, or later remove any submission at our discretion. We aim to explain our reasoning but are not obliged to.
7. Messaging and contact
Every message sent through the Services is read by our team before it is forwarded, and we may decline to forward any message without giving a reason. Nobody is obliged to reply to anything.
Vendor enquiries. Anyone may send an enquiry to a vendor; an account is not required. The enquiry is moderated by our team before being forwarded, and the sender’s details are shared with the vendor only if we forward it. A vendor receives enquiries but cannot initiate contact with a user through the Services.
You must not use the messaging system to send unsolicited commercial messages, to attempt to move a conversation off the platform in order to avoid moderation, to request personal contact details from a minor, or to arrange to meet a minor. We may block a sender permanently and without notice, and will report conduct that appears to endanger a child.
8. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- impersonate any person, business, school or institution, or claim an achievement, lineage or service that is not yours;
- publish another person’s personal information without their permission;
- upload material that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, discriminatory, or culturally disrespectful;
- upload sexual content, or any content that sexualises or endangers a minor;
- upload a portfolio or profile image that shows an identifiable person without the required agreement, or a vendor portfolio image that shows an identifiable person at all;
- upload malware, or attempt to compromise the Services or another account;
- scrape, crawl, harvest or systematically collect data from the Services, by any automated means;
- reverse-engineer, copy or resell any part of the Services;
- use the Services to advertise unrelated goods or services;
- circumvent any moderation, rate limit or protection applied to minors.
9. Copyright and DMCA
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe material on the Services infringes a copyright you own or control, send a written notice to our designated agent containing:
- a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or their authorised agent;
- identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed;
- the exact URL or location of the material on our site;
- your name, address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
Designated agent:
Ethos Agora LLC, Attn: DMCA Agent
legal@arangetramregistry.com
We will respond to valid notices, may remove the material, and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If you believe material was removed in error, you may send a counter-notice to the same address.
10. Our intellectual property
Excluding Your Content, everything comprising the Services — the design, code, layout, graphics, logos and the Arangetram Registry name — is the property of Ethos Agora LLC and protected by United States copyright, trademark and trade dress law. You may not copy, modify, distribute or reverse-engineer it without written permission.
11. Handles and vendor links
Artists and gurus with a published profile may choose a handle forming part of their public address. Artists and gurus draw on a single set of handles, so each one identifies exactly one person across the whole registry.
Handles are provided for identification, not ownership. We may reserve, refuse, reclaim or change a handle where it impersonates another person or organisation, is offensive, or is required for the operation of the site.
Artists under 18 may reserve a handle so that it is held for them, but it does not function and is not displayed until they confirm they are 18. Until then their profile is reached by a random address containing no name.
Vendor links. A vendor may choose a short custom link for its listing. Vendor links are a separate namespace from artist and guru handles, and the same rules apply: they are for identification, not ownership, and we may reserve, refuse, reclaim or change one where it impersonates another business, is offensive, or is required for the operation of the site.
A handle or vendor link that is changed or deleted stops working at once and is held for twelve months before anyone else may claim it, so that a link already shared does not resolve to a different person or business.
12. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account or remove content where we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken, information is false, or a person or the platform is at risk. Where circumstances permit, we will explain and give an opportunity to respond. Where a child’s safety is involved, we will act first.
Deleting what you have published. You may delete an individual profile from that profile’s page, or close your account entirely — artist, guru or vendor — from your dashboard. Either removes the content permanently — photographs, certificates, portfolio images, links and announcements — with no recovery period.
Because it cannot be undone, we confirm twice: we email you a link, and the page it opens asks for your password. Where the artist is under 18, their parent or guardian is copied on that email. A parent or guardian may also ask us directly to remove a minor’s profile.
Certain records — moderation decisions, consent records, and anything we must retain by law — are kept as described in the Privacy Policy. They contain no profile or listing content.
13. Relationships between users
We are not a party to anything agreed between users — lessons, performances, fees, engagements, collaborations, or the purchase of any goods or services from a vendor. We take no commission and have no role in those arrangements. Satisfy yourself independently about anyone you deal with, particularly where a child is involved. A listing in the Vendor Directory is not an endorsement, recommendation or guarantee of that vendor by us.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ETHOS AGORA LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT INFORMATION PUBLISHED BY USERS OR VENDORS IS ACCURATE.
15. Limitation of liability and indemnity
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ETHOS AGORA LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA OR REPUTATIONAL HARM, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE FEES YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE PRECEDING TWELVE MONTHS OR ONE HUNDRED UNITED STATES DOLLARS (USD 100).
Indemnity. You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Ethos Agora LLC, its officers, directors and employees against claims, damages, losses, liabilities and reasonable legal costs arising from content you submit, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party right. Where the artist is under 18, this obligation rests with the parent or guardian who accepted these Terms on their behalf. Where the account is a vendor account, this obligation rests with the business.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any liability owed to a consumer which the law does not permit us to limit.
16. Severability and waiver
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder continues in effect and that provision applies to the fullest extent permitted. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
17. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any action arising out of them shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of any protection under the mandatory law of your own country, nor of any right to bring proceedings there which cannot be excluded by agreement.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Where a change is material we will notify registered users and update the date above. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance. We keep a record of which version each user accepted.
19. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the Services.
